Nicki Minaj And Taylor Swift Have Bad Blood Over MTV VMA Nominations

Just when we thought it was safe to leave Twitter alone for, y’know, FIVE MINUTES after the saga that was general One Direction drama last week, Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift start having it out over the MTV VMAs.

Imma let you finish, guys, but CAN WE PLEASE GET TWO MINUTES BREAK SO WE CAN SLEEP?

No? Double espresso it is then.

It all started when Nicki called MTV out for snubbing her and Beyoncé’s ‘Feeling Myself’ video in the nominations.

She tweeted: “Hey guys @MTV thank you for my nominations. Did Feeling Myself miss the deadline or…?”

The 32-year-old and her loyal fanbase were also less than impressed that her ‘Anaconda’ video, though nominated for Best Female Video and Best Hip Hop Video, missed out on Video of the Year and Best Choreography.

(‘Bang Bang’ is also nominated for Best Collaboration, FYI).

Clearly disappointed that, despite breaking impressive video streaming records, the video didn’t get the big VOTY nod, Nicki suggested that race could have had an effect on who got nominated.

Throughout the night, she retweeted many fans who supported her on this issue, including one who wrote: “It’s not even any shade to the other artists. It’s just that Nicki is getting snubbed for doing the same thing they’re winning awards for.“

As well as racism, Nicki touched upon body-shaming in the industry, tweeting: “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year.”

However, Taylor, whose ‘Bad Blood’ video is nomination for the top gong, took the tweet personally, replying: “I’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot..”

Nicki wanted to make it clear that the tweet WASN’T aimed at Swifty though, suggesting that the 25-year-old had misinterpreted what she tweeted.

In tweets not to Swifty, she also clarified to followers that nothing she said was aimed at the singer, writing: “Nothing I said had to do with Taylor. So what jabs? White media and their tactics. So sad. That’s what they want.”

TayTay then attempted to rectify the situation, tweeting: “You’re invited to any stage I’m ever on.”

However, the ‘Anaconda’ singer then retweeted one fan’s reply to her, which read: “stop using “support all girls” as an excuse to not be critical of racist media that benefits and glorifies you.”

Nicki turned the situation into something of a positive though, adding that she was ‘glad’ the back and forth highlighted “how this stuff works.”

Oh, and in a humourous twist, Kim Kardashian accidentally got herself involved with an ill-timed photo caption, posting this photo and writing: “Imma let you finish but…”

Quickly deleting it, she tweeted: “Wait wait I’m in Paris it’s the middle of the night & I’m posting my Vogue Spain pics not having a clue what’s going on in the music world.

“I’m not trying to shade anyone! That’s not my style! I just thought that caption was perfect for that pic! Changing the caption now! #ironic.”

Nice save, Kim.

Don’t worry, though, because Aaron Paul seems to have a solution to this situation:
