The SEC will get back two of its star players this week as both Georgia and Florida announced that running back Nick Chubb and quarterback Luke Del Rio should be in their respective starting lineups.

Chubb had one carry against Tennessee last week as was nursing an ankle injury he suffered the previous week against Ole Miss. Coach Kirby Smart told reporters Monday that Chubb was “situationally available” for the Bulldogs last week.

In Chubb’s absence against the Volunteers, Sony Michel and Brian Herrien combined for 165 yards and a touchdown on 31 carries.

Chubb leads the Bulldogs with 84 carries for 425 yards and three touchdowns.

Florida coach Jim McElwain also announced Monday that former starting quarterback Del Rio would be back in the starting lineup this week after missing the last two games with a sprained knee he suffered against Texas.

“Luke Del Rio, he’ll go some today, more tomorrow and Wednesday, and we’ll see exactly where and how much that swells, where the pain is and where the stability is,” McElwain said. “He’ll get some reps with the ones, obviously Austin (Appleby) will and that will be something we’ll decide later in the week.

“This is something I know Luke had been targeting a little bit, so his mindset is he’s going to play. That’s good. That’s what you want, but know this: I won’t put him out there (if he’s not ready).”

The Gators need Del Rio after struggling to produce any sort of offensive consistency against Tennessee and Vanderbilt. The Gators blew a 21-point first-half lead against Tennessee and lost 38-28 and had just 13 points in a 13-6 win against Vanderbilt last week.
