Niagara Falls student-produced eclipse documentary available for viewing

Apr. 24—The Niagara Falls High School student-produced documentary about the April 8 solar eclipse is now available for viewing.

"United in Darkness: a Journey to Totality" can be seen on the Our Schools Channel YouTube page. The 46-minute long video goes into the work preparing the area for the once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Work on it started back on Feb. 22, with local officials, representatives from the Niagara Aerospace Museum and Aquarium of Niagara, and NASA speakers featured. 20 students were involved in putting the production together.

Media Education Director Rocco Strangio said earlier this month that since the eclipse was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for residents, they wanted to try and produce something to commemorate it.

Colleagues urged him to reach out to NASA, which was setting up several information stations around Niagara County, and they received a response.

A screening for the documentary took place on April 23 at the Niagara Falls Public Library. The library will have a copy of it and a movie poster as part of its local history collection.
