Niagara Falls man facing 50-to-life in March shooting

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) — An arrest has been made in the shooting of 31-year-old Niagara Falls resident Thomas Carter.

On Tuesday, an indictment charging Jalik George, 27, was unsealed in Niagara County Court. George was accused of shooting Carter in the vicinity of Ashland and 19th Street on March 3.

George, also a Niagara Falls resident, faces charges of attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. If convicted on all counts, George could be sentenced to 50 years to life in prison.

George, who was returned to Niagara County Court on a fugitive warrant, was arraigned and remanded to the Niagara County Jail without bail. He’s scheduled to appear in court on April 16.
