In this exhibit, guests will see firsthand and up close, the tools and strategies the zoo uses to help animals stay physically active and mentally stimulated. In this exhibit you will be introduced to how modern zoos provide for both the mental and physical well-being of the diverse animals under the zoo’s care.

Niabi Zoo’s Enrichment in Action showcases a sampling of the numerous kinds of enrichment that are provided to our animals with species-appropriate strategies and devices. Guests will enter the Enrichment in Action space and learn about the various focused categories of animal enrichment, as well as experience how our animals utilize the enrichment devices in their home spaces.

The zoo encourages guests to interact with a variety of enrichment devices throughout the space, where you can forage for insects in a ball pit like a meerkat, lounge like a leopard on a fire hose bed, or crawl through an enrichment tunnel like a Pallas’s Cat. These engaging activities, along with many others, are just some of the interactive exhibits you will encounter when you visit the Discovery Center Gallery. Just take a right after you pass through the ticket plaza and enter through the glass doors so you don’t miss “Enrichment in Action.”

Niabi Zoological Park is at 13010 Niabi Zoo Road, Coal Valley. For more information, visit here or call 309-799-3482.
