LOS ANGELES, June 4 (Reuters) - The opening game in the Stanley Cup Finals between the Los Angeles Kings and the New York Rangers was forced into overtime after the teams finished tied at 2-2 at the Staples Center on Wednesday.
The Kings, Stanley Cup champions two years ago, pulled one back before the end of the first period when Kyle Clifford buried the puck in the New York net.
Los Angeles tied the game at 2-2 when defenseman Drew Doughty scored in the second period but neither side were able to score in the final period of regulation. (Reporting by Mark Lamport-Stokes; Editing by Julian Linden)
