Jan 27 (The Sports Xchange) - The Detroit Red Wings activated goaltender Jimmy Howard from injured reserve Monday. To make room for Howard on the roster, the team assigned goalie Petr Mrazek to Grand Rapids of the AHL. Howard, 29, left the Red Wings' Jan. 20 game against the St. Louis Blues in the second period with knee pain. He also missed about three weeks in December with a knee injury. Howard is 9-12-8 this season with a 2.64 goals-against average and .916 save percentage. - - New York Islanders defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky is scheduled to be back in the lineup for Monday's game against the Boston Bruins after missing more than three months with a concussion. Also, Islanders goaltender Evgeni Nabokov was activated from injured reserve and was expected to be available Monday for the first time since leaving the Islanders' Jan. 6 game with a lower-body injury. Nabokov will back up Kevin Poulin against the Bruins but might start Wednesday. - - Dallas Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen, Detroit Red Wings right wing Gustav Nyquist and Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Andrej Sekera were named the NHL's "Three Stars" for the week. - - The Nashville Predators recalled forward Colton Sissons from the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL. Sissons, 20, leads Milwaukee with 16 goals and 28 points. - - The Chicago Blackhawks recalled forward Brandon Pirri from the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.
