Nov 4 (The Sports Xchange) - Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Ryan Murphy was fined $2,213.68 by the NHL for clipping New York Rangers forward Derek Dorsett during their game on Saturday, the league announced Monday.
The amount is the maximum permitted under the collective bargaining agreement.
The incident occurred at 13:36 of the second period. Murphy was assessed a minor penalty for clipping.
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Dave Bolland will be out of action indefinitely after having surgery on Sunday to repair a severed tendon on the outside of his left ankle, the team announced.
Bolland was injured in the second period of Saturday's game against the Vancouver Canucks when Canucks forward Zack Kassian accidentally stepped on the back of Bolland's leg.
Colorado Avalanche right wing Alex Tanguay will be sidelined at least two weeks because of the knee injury he suffered on Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens, Avs coach Patrick Roy said Monday.
Roy said Tanguay would be re-evaluated after two weeks to determine his status then.
Minnesota Wild right wing Jason Pominville, Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury and Washington Capitals left wing Jason Chimera were named the NHL's "Three Stars" for the week, the league announced. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
