Dec 27 (The Sports Xchange) - Pittsburgh Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis will require surgery to repair damage to his anterior-cruciate ligament and may be sidelined the rest of the season, the team announced Friday. Dupuis suffered the knee injury in a recent collision with teammate Sidney Crosby. The Penguins offered no timetable for Dupuis' return. Dupuis, 34, has seven goals and 13 assists in 39 games this season. He agreed to a four-year, $15 million contract extension with the Penguins during the offseason. - - - The Carolina Hurricanes placed forward Jiri Tlusty on injured reserve after undergoing an appendectomy. Tlusty, 25, is expected to be out two to three weeks. The winger led the team by scoring a career-high 23 goals and had 15 assists in 48 games last season. However, he has just six goals and four assists in 37 games this season. - - - The Boston Bruins recalled goalie Niklas Svedberg from Providence of the AHL. Svedberg, 24, is 11-5-3 with a 2.91 goals-against average and .907 save percentage this season. He is expected to back up Tuukka Rask. - - - The Vancouver Canucks recalled goaltender Joacim Eriksson from Utica of the AHL.
