Jan 20 (The Sports Xchange) - Vancouver Canucks forward Henrik Sedin is scheduled to miss Tuesday's game against the Edmonton Oilers because of bruised ribs, and that will end his streak of 679 consecutive games played.
Assistant coach Mike Sullivan confirmed on Monday that Sedin will not play on Tuesday, and he is listed as day-to-day.
The last time Sedin failed to play in a game was March 19, 2004.
The Washington Capitals reassigned goalie Philipp Grubauer to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.
Grubauer, 22, appeared in 16 NHL games and started 14 of the Capitals' past 20 games.
He had a 6-4-5 record with a 2.38 goals-against average. However, he was pulled from losses Friday against the Columbus Blue Jackets and Sunday against the New York Rangers after allowing a combined six goals on 22 shots.
Tampa Bay Lightning right wing Martin St. Louis, Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick and Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford were named the NHL's "Three Stars" for the week. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
