NHL-National Hockey League roundup

Jan 31(The Sports Xchange) - Minnesota Wild forward Zach Parise was named captain of Team USA for the Sochi Olympics on Friday. The U.S. named Los Angeles Kings right wing Dustin Brown and Wild defenseman Ryan Suter alternate captains. Parise, a 29-year-old Minneapolis native, tied for the U.S. scoring lead at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver with eight points. He scored the game-tying goal with 24.5 seconds left in regulation of the gold-medal contest against Canada to force overtime. Parise played for gold-medal teams at the World Under-18 Championship in 2002 and the World Junior Championship in 2004. This season, Parise has 34 points in 41 games while battling injuries. - - - Buffalo Sabres forward Matt Moulson is out until after the Olympic break with an upper-body injury, coach Ted Nolan said. Moulson was injured on a hit or slash from Phoenix Coyotes forward Shane Doan with about six minutes left in the third period of Thursday night's game. He did not return. Moulson is in the final season of a three-year, $9.4 million contract. - - - The Tampa Bay Lightning have concerns at the goalie position as a result of injuries suffered on Thursday. Backup goalie Anders Lindback is likely to be out at least until the Olympic break because of a lower-body injury he sustained in a collision with Ottawa Senators forward Cory Conacher in the second period, NHL.com reported. Lindback had replaced starter Ben Bishop, who is questionable for Saturday's game against the Montreal Canadiens because of a head injury, coach Jon Cooper said. Bishop was forced to leave Thursday's game against the Ottawa Senators after being struck in the head by the skate of teammate Nikita Kucherov. (Editing by Gene Cherry)
