Blackhawks 3, Blues 2 (OT)

Forward Jonathan Toews scored on a breakaway at 7:36 of overtime to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 3-2 victory over the St Louis Blues in Game 5 at Scottrade Center.

Toews, Chicago's captain, scored on a backhand just after Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford stopped a drive by Blues captain David Backes. Defenseman Duncan Keith shoveled the rebound up ice for Toews to break out from the neutral zone.

The Blackhawks won three consecutive games to turn a 2-0 series deficit into a 3-2 series lead with Game 6 on Sunday in Chicago.

Chicago right winger Marian Hossa and left winger Ben Smith scored for the first time in the series, as did Blues right winger T.J. Oshie and defenseman Alex Pietrangelo.

Pietrangelo tied the score 2-2 at 1:42 of the final period setting the stage for the fourth overtime game of the five games in the series.

Flyers 2, Rangers 1

Right wingers Jakub Voracek and Matt Read scored goals while Steve Mason made 37 saves as the Philadelphia Flyers beat the New York Rangers 2-1 to square their first-round playoff series at 2-2.

Mason posted his first career playoff win in his first start after returning from an upper-body injury. Center Dominic Moore scored New York's goal.

Voracek's power-play goal gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead in the second period after he redirected center Brayden Schenn's slap shot past goalie Henrik Lundqvist.

The Rangers scored the first goal for the third straight game, taking a 1-0 lead in the first period right after killing a sixth straight Philadelphia power play.

Read tied it a few minutes later. Right winger Jason Akeson ripped a shot wide of the net that bounced off the board and right to Read in front for an easy goal.

Mason was outstanding for the Flyers. He stopped 15 shots in the first period and kept making one big save after another in a crucial game.
