Oilers 4, Penguins 3 (overtime)
The Edmonton Oilers upset the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 in overtime.
In a game between the first place team in the East and the last place team in the West, with the Penguins 32 points better in the standings, the Oilers were one goal better on the scoreboard after center Ryan Nugent Hopkins scored early in overtime to steal the win.
In a wild third period at Rexall Place, the Oilers erased a 2-0 deficit on goals from Nugent-Hopkins and left winger Taylor Hall, fell behind again when Penguins defenseman Kris Letang scored two seconds into a power play, then tied it again when defenseman Anton Belov scored with 1:59 left in regulation.

Islanders 2, Avalanche 1 (OT)
Right winger Michael Grabner scored 1:46 into overtime and the New York Islanders continued their strong road play with a 2-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche.
Center Brock Nelson scored and goaltender Kevin Poulin had 30 saves for the Islanders.
Defenseman Calvin de Haan had two assists for New York, who have won six straight on the road.

Canucks 2, Blues 1
Vancouver center Mike Santorelli's goal at 5:56 of the third period gave the Canucks a 2-1 win over the St. Louis Blues.
Santorelli got credit for the winner after defenseman Jason Garrison's shot went in off him following a botched St. Louis clearing attempt during a scramble.
The Canucks (24-13-9) ended their losing streak while the Blues (31-8-5) saw their winning streak end at seven games.

Blue Jackets 3, Hurricanes 0
Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky had 35 saves for his second shutout of the season and the Columbus Blue Jackets continued their mastery of the Carolina Hurricanes with a 3-0 win.
Brandon Dubinsky, Cam Atkinson and rookie center Boone Jenner scored for the Blue Jackets, who have won seven straight against the Hurricanes dating to early in the 2005-06 season.
Carolina, who had won a season-high five straight, were shut out for the third time this season.

Rangers 3, Stars 2
Rick Nash continued his hot streak for New York, scoring the game-winning goal in the Rangers' 3-2 win over the Dallas Stars.
The Rangers' left winger registered his fourth goal in the last seven games, a wrist shot at 18:02 of the third period that broke a 2-2 tie.
The game featured two of the top goaltenders who will be appearing in the Winter Olympics in Russia in February.
Dallas' Kari Lehtonen will be representing Finland and New York's Henrik Lundqvist will be in the net for Sweden.
Lehtonen stopped 31 shots and Lundqvist made 24 saves.
New York (23-20-3) are 7-3-1 in their last 11 games while the Stars (20-16-7) are 0-5 in January and have been outscored 26-10.

Capitals 3, Maple Leafs 2
Washington winger Joel Ward scored the go-ahead goal on the power-play with 8:09 remaining in regulation to give the Capitals a 3-2 win over the Leafs.
Right winger Alex Ovechkin and center Nicklas Backstrom also scored for the Capitals, but it was goaltender Michal Neuvirth who received the most attention after the game.
Playing for the first time since Nov. 22, the 25-year-old turned aside 32 of 34 shots for his first victory since Nov. 2.
