NH police identify victim of fatal Portsmouth crash on I-95

PORTSMOUTH — The California woman who died in a rollover accident on Interstate 95 in Portsmouth during the morning commute Wednesday has been identified.

New Hampshire State Police said Taesoon Hur, a 65-year-old from Buena Park, California, was the victim of the crash that closed the highway for roughly three hours, snarling traffic and causing backups spanning multiple exits.

The driver of the vehicle, a Genesis G70, was identified as 38-year-old Byung Moo Hur of Saugus, Massachusetts. State police spokesperson Tyler Dumont confirmed Taesoon Hur is the mother of Byung Moo Hur.

The vehicle was heading north Wednesday morning when Byung Moo Hur lost control of the car, which swerved over the paved portion of the interstate, police said. The vehicle then entered into a grassy center median, turned and struck a large light pole, which caused Taesoon Hur to be ejected from the car, state police said.

Taesoon Hur was pronounced dead on scene, per authorities. Byung Moo Hur was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

On Thursday afternoon, state police noted that an update on Byung Moo Hur’s condition was not available. Law enforcement are continuing to investigate the fatal crash, which occurred Wednesday morning around 8 a.m. just south of Exit 3B.

No charges have been filed in the fatality, per Dumont.
