NH Electric Co-op workers to vote on contract
PLYMOUTH, N.H. (AP) — A utility that provides electricity to 83,000 customers in 115 New Hampshire communities is bracing for a possible strike by the union representing lineworkers and other jobs.
The New Hampshire Electric Cooperative and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local have been bargaining since April. Workers' five-year contract ended Sept. 30. Union members are scheduled to vote on a contract offer Friday.
The union represents 85 employees, including district representatives; foremen; operations coordinators; line-design technicians; auto mechanics; system electricians; meter technicians; and warehouse workers.
NHEC said it has a plan to maintain power supply, outage restoration and public safety in the event of a strike.
The company and union have been at odds on wages and pensions.
