NFL roundup: Jonathan Martin meets with investigator

Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Jonathan Martin met with lawyer Ted Wells, who was hired by the NFL to investigate the team's bullying scandal.

Martin was seen by multiple media outlets entering Wells' Manhattan office Friday morning. Wells is gathering information about Martin's complaints of harassment from offensive guard Richie Incognito and other teammates.

Martin emerged from the meeting late in the afternoon and spoke briefly with reporters.

"I do not intend this discuss this matter publicly," Martin said. "This is the right way to handle the situation."

Martin said he described his experiences with the Dolphins and that he planned to meet with team owner Stephen Ross and other team officials at an appropriate time.

"Beyond that, I look forward to working through this and resuming my career in the National Football League," Martin said.

---Oakland Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor missed practice on Friday because of a knee injury and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans.

Raiders coach Dennis Allen said Pryor had a setback and that his knee felt worse on Friday after sharing reps with rookie Matt McGloin in Thursday's practice. It appears likely that McGloin will be the starter on Sunday.

----Hall of Fame NFL offensive lineman Mike McCormack, who helped bring the Carolina Panthers into existence, died at the age of 83, the Panthers confirmed.

McCormack was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 1984 after helping the Cleveland Browns win two NFL titles.

---Gary Kubiak is back as the Houston Texans head coach, but he might coach from the press box instead of the sidelines on Sunday when the Texans face the Oakland Raiders, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Kubiak suffering a mini-stroke on Nov. 3, but he told the Chronicle he will resume calling the offensive plays.

---Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey was not practicing during the portion of Friday's session that the media was able to watch.

The Miami Herald reported that Pouncey was dealing with a minor medical issue but is expected to play Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers.

---Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin was scheduled to have surgery on his shoulder Friday, according to coach Greg Schiano.

Martin is out for the season after tearing his labrum in his left shoulder.

---Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson returned to practice after missing Wednesday and Thursday with a knee injury, according to the team's website.

Johnson already said Thursday he plans to play this weekend against the host Pittsburgh Steelers.

---Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez was not on the field during the session of Friday's practice viewed by the media.

Gonzalez has been out this week with a toe injury, but coach Mike Smith still hopes he can play Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

---San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith is expected to get significantly more playing time this Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

Smith played just 12 snaps in the 49ers' loss to the Carolina Panthers last Sunday in his first game back after spending time in a treatment facility for substance abuse. He missed five games.

Also tight end Vernon Davis is on course to play after having a concussion against Carolina.

---New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul returned to practice after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday because of a shoulder injury. He is expected to play against Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

---Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson was ruled out from playing Sunday's game against the New York Jets due to a right groin injury.

---Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger told radio station WDVE that he is fully committed to the team, in response to a report that the Steelers are growing frustrated with him.

"I want to stay," Roethlisberger said. "My family wants to stay. I want to finish my career here. I've always said that."

---Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder will likely start Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, coach Leslie Frazier announced.

Ponder dislocated his non-throwing (left) shoulder Nov. 7 against the Washington Redskins.

---Former Washington Redskins cornerback Darrell Green said the team lacks leadership.

The Hall of Famer said on Showtime's "Inside The NFL" that leadership issues are a big reason why the Redskins are 3-6. He included quarterback Robert Griffin III as part of the blame.

---Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley had successful spinal fusion surgery on Thursday, according to the NFL Network.

Finley is able to walk, and he planned to return to Green Bay on Friday. He hopes to start working out lightly and recover in three to four months.
