NFL’s Julius Peppers Is Still Trying to Unload His North Carolina Mansion

Veteran Green Bay Packers outside linebacker Julius Peppers is having trouble finding a buyer for his 8,810-square-foot mansion in Mooresville, NC. Currently listed for $3.4 million, the mansion’s price has been cut three times since it initially landed on the market in March 2015.

Peppers, 36, is a North Carolina native who played his first eight seasons in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers. Public records indicate the All-Pro bought the home for $4.18 million in 2006.

The five-bedroom, 6.5-bath, Spanish-style mansion sits on 1.4 acres in The Point, a luxury subdivision on the shores of Lake Norman. The home was built on the tip of a peninsula, with 900 feet of shoreline, a private dock, electric boat lift, and slips for personal watercraft.

The home is the most expensive listing currently on the market at The Point, which has a median asking price of $1.1 million. It is located less than 40 minutes north of the Panthers’ Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC.

The home’s design is punctuated by a watchtower that rises above the entryway. Entering the home, visitors would see a 400-gallon saltwater fish tank, followed by a floor-to-ceiling glass wall with views of the lake.

The chef’s kitchen has an island, modern cabinetry, stainless-steel appliances, and a double refrigerator. The living room has a wet bar and fireplace.

The master bedroom has an inlaid wooden symbol in the ceiling, a fireplace, and a sitting area. The master bathroom has a tub built into a bay window alcove, under a vaulted barrel ceiling.

Additional bedrooms and sitting areas feature custom woodwork, angled walls or arched alcoves, all designed to take advantage of the home’s lake views. There’s also a home theater and game room. The backyard includes a pool, hot tub, and covered patio with in-ground gas grill.

Peppers was drafted No. 2 overall in 2002, after playing both basketball and football at the University of North Carolina. His dual-sport college career made him the first athlete to play in both an NCAA men’s basketball Final Four game and the Super Bowl. He’s considered a future Hall of Famer, thanks to his 142.5 quarterback sacks, placing him fifth in sacks in NFL history.
