Just in time to whip that post-holiday hair back into shape, Nexxus is hosting their first-ever pre-sale of Keraphix, their newest and most powerful hair-repair system yet. The sale will take place at 12pm EST on Monday, December 18, on the brand's website. And this is big, as it will be the first opportunity for customers to try the new repair system before it officially hit stores in mid-January.

The Keraphix line of products, a four-step reparative system, is an upgrade from the brand's Emergencée treatment. The new Keraphix formula contains a blend of black rice and keratin protein to help repair strands from the inside out and promises to leave hair visibly healthier.

While black rice has been around for centuries, the ingredient is not quite as popular in hair products or used as often as wheat, oat, or bran proteins. To get the full lowdown on the benefits black rice brings to hair products, we spoke to cosmetic chemist Susie Wang. Black rice, she says, is "something I used when I was a child. I would soak black rice in kombucha overnight and add a little bit of apple cider vinegar and I would pour it on to my hair and scalp. The reason why I did that was hair [needs] protein and iron — and black rice has an abundance of both" says Wang, who is also the founder of skincare and makeup brand 100% Pure. "The main benefits [of black rice] are that it strengthens, conditions, protects, and shines," says Wang. However, according to the chemist, just like with all hair products that contain proteins, finding the balance of how often you should use the product is key, as too much protein can weigh down your hair and cause reverse effects. Using the system around two times a week should do the trick.

For those looking to repair hair that is seriously damaged, whether it's a result of overprocessing or overstyling, the black rice and keratin fomula in Nexxus's new Keraphix system may just be your jam. And hey, if you don't believe us, Nexxus has partnered up with celebrities and influencers like Ashley Benson, Marianna Hewitt, Andi Dorfman, and Arielle Charnas of Something Navy, who are singing the new line's praises all over Instagram.

Each kit will retail for $19.99 and will contain a 3 oz. shampoo & conditioner, one tube of the reconstructing treatment, a masque sachet, and a candle in the Keraphix fragrance. For best results, you should first cleanse the hair with the Keraphix Shampoo, rinse, and then follow up with the Keraphix Reconstructing Treatment. Leave it on for five minutes and then rinse. You'll then lightly shampoo the hair again with the Keraphix Shampoo and rinse again and finish off with either the Keraphix Conditioner or the Masque.

Now, hurry along and scoop up Nexxus' Keraphix line, so you can roll into 2018 saying, "healthier hair, who dis?"
