Despite a chilly start to April, temperatures since January 1 are averaging more than 5 degrees above normal, good enough to rank 5th warmest since observations began in 1871, and the mildest since 2012 or about 12 years

To date, 2024 has seen 6 days of 70 degrees or warmer temperatures — well ahead of the one day considered normal

WEDNESDAY SEVERE OUTLOOK FROM THE NWS SPC

Widespread severe thunderstorms are forecast beginning Wednesday morning across parts of the central Gulf Coast States. The potential will exist for several tornadoes, a few of which could be strong (EF2+) along with widespread damaging winds.


TEMP FORECAST TRENDS FOR THE NEXT FIVE DAYS

Temperatures dip briefly on Thursday due to rain and northeast winds off the lake, but a noticeable warm-up is on tap this weekend, including the warmest temperatures in 5.5 months expected on Sunday when readings are expected to soar well into the 70s
