Awards

Three Polsinelli shareholders will be honored by the National Diversity Council during their upcoming Legal Diversity Week. Gemma Descoteaux will be honored as a “Top 50 Women Lawyers” in Dallas, Suni Sukduang will be recognized as a “Top Lawyers Under 40” in Houston and Henry Talavera will be honored as a “Top 5—Multicultural Lawyers” in Dallas. Descoteaux is a member of Polsinelli’s corporate and transactional practice group and shareholder. Sukduang, is the chair of Polsinelli post grant practice group. Talavera is a member of the employee benefits and executive compensation practice groups at Polsinelli. Gardere partners Rachel Steely and Cristina Solomon were honored with Prestigious Business Awards. Solomon has been named on the Texas Executive Women’s 2017 Women on the Move list. Solomon is one of the 10 outstanding women in Houston selected for her exceptional contributions to business and community service. Steely, co-chair of Gardere’s labor and employment practice group, has been named on Houston Business Journal’s 2017 Women Who Mean Business list. She is one of only 70 women in Houston selected for the honor, and the only law firm lawyer in her recognition category. Munck Wilson Mandala partner Jamil Alibhai has been elected to the board of directors of Make-A-Wish, North Texas, one of the largest most successful Make-A-Wish chapters in the country. Alibhai is the chair of Munck Wilson’s complex litigation/dispute resolution practice.

Moves

David Lang joined Baker McKenzie as partner and will serve as global head of LNG. Based in Houston, Lang focuses his practice on energy infrastructure development, acquisition and disposition with concentration on LNG projects. Lang joins from Vinson & Elkins in Houston. Bud Doxey has joined Greenberg Traurig as shareholder. Doxey has a national practice with wider ranging experience advising on commercial real estate transactions across the country. He joins the firm from Andrews Kurth Kenyon. Jacob Pritcher Jr. joined Kane Russell Coleman Logan as senior counsel. Pritcher joined the firm’s real estate group and will focus on acquisition, development and disposition of properties. Pritcher served as director of real estate law for Home Depot. John Dickey has joined Barnes & Thornburg as partner in the firm’s corporate department. Dickey focuses his practice on representing domestic and international businesses in private equity, corporate finance and capital markets-related matters, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations, capital raises and joint ventures. Dickey was partner in the corporate and transactional practice at Polsinelli. Lindsay Nickle has joined Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith in its Dallas office as partner in the data privacy and cybersecurity practice group. Nickle focuses on drafting and refining client’s incidents response plans and facilitates data security training and tabletop exercises. Lori Troutman has joined the Houston office of Haynes and Boone as counsel in the firm’s employee benefits and executive compensation practice groups. Troutman was special counsel at Baker Botts. Mark Wigder has joined Coats Rose as of counsel in the firm’s corporate and business law practice groups. Wigder represents public and private companies in financings, securities, corporate compliance matters and mergers and acquisitions transactions. Wigder was a member at Gray Reed & McGraw. Partners Michael Fisherman, Cyril Jones, Samuel Peca, Michael Rigdon and Nicolas Thompson join Kirkland & Ellis. Fisherman and Rigdon will focus on capital markets. Jones and Peca will focus on mergers and acquisitions and private equity. Thompson will focus on government, regulatory and internal investigations litigation. Mario Barrera has joined Thompson & Knight as partner in the firm’s tax practice group in the firm’s Mexico City office. Barrera focuses his practice on domestic and cross-border tax advisory, planning and strategy. Prior to joining the firm, Barrera was a partner at Basham, Ringe y Correa S.C. in Mexico City. He is licensed to practice in Mexico. Patrick Trostle has joined Thompson & Knight as partner in the firm’s bankruptcy and restructuring practice group. Trostle focuses his practice on restructuring and Chapter 11 reorganizations, including litigation related to troubled or insolvent business. Trostle was a partner at Jenner & Block and served as chair of its New York restructuring and bankruptcy practice. Scott Thomas has joined Winston & Strawn as partner in the firm’s Dallas office. He has obtained favorable results for his clients in trial, including a verdict for one of three individual minority shareholders of over $178 million, which was recognized as one of the top verdicts in the country in 2009, according to The National Law Journal. Thomas joins Winston after leaving Fish & Richardson earlier this year, where he was principal. Vince Slusher joins Drinker Biddle & Reath as partner in the firm’s corporate restructuring practice. Slusher focuses his practice on representing large and midsized companies, both public and private, in a complex bankruptcy and business or financial reorganization matters. Slusher was a partner at DLA Piper.
