5-year-old girl shot and killed on Near West Side
A five-year-old girl was shot and killed on the Near West Side early Sunday morning, Chicago police said.
The girl was sitting in a parked vehicle around 3:30 a.m. on the 200 block of S. Campbell Ave. when she was shot in the abdomen. She was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to officials.
A 24-year-old man was also standing outside the car and was shot twice in the leg.
Police said no one is in custody, and detectives are investigating the incident.
