News Anchors, Crews Rush To Meet Hurricane Matthew As Coast Lashing Begins – Update

UPDATED: David Muir will be anchoring ABC’s newscast tonight from Jacksonville, FL, as Hurricane Matthew barrels toward the state, the network confirmed. NBC’s Lester Holt this afternoon tweeted work he’s landed in Orlando, Florida, and was motoring to Melbourne, which is on the east coast of the state.

Holt will be north of CBS News’ Scott Pelley, who is broadcasting CBS Evening News live from West Palm Beach, Florida tonight and tomorrow, as the Category 4 storm begins to lash the state.

For NBC Nightly News and MSNBC, Miguel Almaguer is stationed in Palm Beach, Ron Mott in Daytona, Blake McCoy in Ft. Lauderdale, Kerry Sanders in Satellite Beach; while Tammy Leitner is in Nassau, Bahamas and Al Roker is in the studio in NY.

CBS News’ team includes Manuel Bojorquez and Mark Strassmann reporting from Florida, Omar Villafranca in the Bahamas, Errol Barnett in Georgia and Jericka Duncan in South Carolina.

ABC News has assigned Gio Benitez to report from Miami, dispatched Chief Meteorologist Ginger Zee to Melbourne, while Alex Perez is stationed in Nassau, and Rob Marciano in Charleston, South Carolina. Zee will be reporting tomorrow from the Melbourne area, along with correspondents Gio Benitez, from the West Palm Beach area, Eva Pilgrim from Jacksonville, and Marci Gonzalez and Lauren Lyster from New Smyrna Beach. Correspondeent Steve Osunsami will be stationed in Savannah, GA.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper, the It Guy of cable-news hurricane coverage, is instead heading tomorrow to the eye of another storm: the second presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, in St. Louis. Cooper’s set to co-moderate the town-hall style debate, with ABC News’s Martha Raddatz, at which Trump continues to boast he plans to refrain from bringing up Bill Clinton’s relationships with women not named Hillary.

Fox News Channel will be live with storm coverage throughout the night beginning with The Kelly File at 9 PM/ET, followed by Hannity at 10 PM/ET and at 11 PM/ET, America’s Newsroom co-anchor Bill Hemmer will anchor a special hour on the hurricane from the News Deck. Beginning at 12 AM/ET, FNC anchors Eric Shawn and Heather Childers will anchor live coverage of Hurricane Matthew with on-scene reports from network correspondents throughout the Southeast. At 4 AM/ET, the network will present an early edition of Fox & Friends First.

Fox News’ Matthew Team includes Phil Keating and Leland Vittert in Daytona Beach, Bryan Llenas and Steve Harrigan in Sebastian Inlet, Florida, and Jonathan Serrie in Charleston. Meteorologists Janice Dean and Rick Reichmuth will be contributing to reports from New York City. Along with correspondents, the network also has dispatched drones to the Southeast. Llenas used the drone while on-scene in Vero Beach, FL today and Serrie will utilize the drone during reports in Folly Beach, SC tomorrow.
