Newest Student of the Week winner is No. 2 in her class and an Illinois State Scholar

A senior from Litchfield High School was chosen as The State Journal-Register's Student of the Week.

Emma Diveley captured a little more than 55% of the vote. Over 1,900 votes were cast by SJ-R readers on online voting between Monday and Thursday.

Diveley plans to attend the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the fall where she will study applied health sciences.

Diveley is ranked number two in her class and is an Illinois State Scholar.

Diveley participated in sports and is a talented artist, according to her nominator, Litchfield High School principal Juletta Ellis.

Other nominees included Olivia Heiple of Rochester and Aleesa Jones of Brown County.

Principals and administrators from local and area schools nominated students based on academic achievement, leadership, citizenship, character, public service and participation in clubs and activities.

Winners are announced online Friday and in print on Sundays.
