“We have never given up hope”: Brown County Sheriff’s Office hosts missing person awareness event

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The Brown County Sheriff’s Office hosted the 10th annual Wisconsin Missing Persons Awareness Event. Lesly Small says losing a family member is never easy.

“I’ve always said that I’d rather be active in the search for my sister, and this is a good way to do that, normally people don’t understand what we’re all going through and today is a great support day because there are other families here who have gone through the same,” explained Small.

Research shows there are more than 200 missing people throughout Wisconsin. Wisconsin Missing Person Advocacy President Marsha Loritz says the event allows the community to support families during their time of need.

Brown County health officials confirm multiple cases of Whooping Cough

“This event is not only educating the public, but it’s helping support these families, helping them realize that they are not alone, and their loved one has not been forgotten,” stated Loritz.

Small says her family will continue to search for her sister, “We have just never given up hope, and we just keep moving forward and hoping for answers someday.”

Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase billboards for missing people.
