'Never forget': In Nagasaki, Pope Francis calls for nuclear weapon abolition

Speaking at Nagasaki's Atomic Bomb Hypocenter Park, ground zero of the bomb drop during WW2 that killed 27,000, he asked political leaders to end their reliance as it cannot protect the public from threats.

The Pope also visited the Martyr's Monument to pay tribute to the martyrs who died in Nagaski during the two centuries of persecution of Christianity.

He will later hold a mass at Nagasaki Baseball stadium and visit Hiroshima, the first city to be hit by an atomic bomb during WW2.
