Nevada County deputies sharpen water rescue skills with Coast Guard in Southern California
(FOX40.COM) — The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office took a recent seaside trip to Marina del Rey to sharpen their skills with water rescues alongside the United States Coast Guard and the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
In a video shared by the sheriff’s office on Tuesday, deputies can be seen running a cooperative training mission with a USCG helicopter and a LACFG lifeguard boat.

During the training deputies executed rescue operations between the aircraft and the vessel that had them practice simulated airlifts from the boat.
The sheriff’s office said that operations like these “require a high level of precision and coordination between all parties to execute safely, effectively, and timely.”
The coordinated training was made possible through the California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways.

While Nevada County may not have any bodies of water as large as the Pacific Ocean in its boundaries, the sheriff’s office can be called to conduct rescues at the numerous lakes and reservoirs within its jurisdiction, along with Lake Tahoe.
