Netflix (which is probably feeling pretty good about itself, after its multiple, history-making Emmy nominations for original series "House of Cards" and "Arrested Development") is out with the latest in its "Quick Guide" explainer series. This week, the subject is Netflix personalization, or: How exactly does Netflix decide which TV shows and movies to recommend to me?

The actual answer is exceedingly complicated, of course, with pages of algorithms and years of research that go into pinpointing titles you might enjoy based on your viewing history.
