Black Mirror season 7 will launch on Netflix in 2025, it's been announced.

A social media teaser clip confirmed today (March 14) that six new episodes of Charlie Brooker's techno-doom thriller are officially on the way, following last year's sixth season starring the likes of Aaron Paul, Salma Hayek, Josh Hartnett and Zazie Beetz.

Five of the episodes remain a mystery for now, however, a sequel to season four favourite 'USS Callister' is included.

"Robert Daly is dead, but for the crew of the USS Callister, their problems are just beginning," reads a synopsis for that particular entry, referring to Jesse Plemons' twisted spaceship captain/programmer.

In 'USS Callister', which boasts The Penguin's Cristin Milioti and Westworld's Jimmi Simpson in the cast, Daly commandeers the DNA of his co-workers to create sentient digital copies for a Star Trek-esque simulation – inserting himself as their dashing leader.

Following its release on the streaming service, Brooker spoke exclusively to Digital Spy about the episode's ending and whether he might revisit the characters.

"They're in what we call 'JJ Land' at the end. They go through the wormhole and end up in JJ Abrams lens-flare land," he said. "We don't rule out revisiting them, so we could. But you'd have to have a really good idea".

Even then, Brooker revealed that Daly was "probably going to die" given the fact he issued a 'Do Not Disturb' sign on his door before entering a coma.

"He's going to starve to death. Because he put 'Do Not Disturb' on his door."

Black Mirror airs on Netflix.
