Neighbours has confirmed a tragic drugs relapse for Krista Sinclair following the devastating loss of her baby.

In scenes airing on Tuesday (April 16), Krista continues to struggle after attending the memorial service for baby Hope, who she tragically lost after being trapped in the sauna room at the Lassiters' due to Chelsea Murphy sabotaging it.

As regular viewers may know, Krista's early storylines in the soap revolved around her drug addiction issues and David Tanaka, who has since died, agreeing to be her 'sober companion'.

Although Krista tries her best to avoid relapsing in the upcoming scenes, a haunting reminder of her loss sends her into a spiral, leading her to take drugs and disappear from the hotel.

A remorseful Krista is eventually found by Chelsea, who, burdened by guilt over Krista's emotional distress, decides to cover for her absence with Leo and Paul.

Chelsea promises to keep the drug use a secret, but she also manipulates the situation to her advantage by convincing Krista to move on from finding out how the sauna malfunctioned.

Although Chelsea has managed to save herself by diverting Krista's attention away from the sauna, has she also set Krista on a path of further self-destruction?

Viva Bianca, who plays Chelsea, recently spoke about the storyline, stating that she hopes her character gets some redemption in the future.

"I hope there's room for some redemption in Chelsea's story. I genuinely don't think she ever meant for things to go awry as they have," she said. "It's like a domino game she's lost total control of. Maybe she can make amends?"
