Neighbors say “person of interest” is related to triple murder victims, OSBI still searching for him

CHICKASHA, Okla. (KFOR) – OSBI has yet to identify three people found shot to death on Saturday inside of a home on S 6th Street. Chickasha Police discovered the bodies around 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning and called in OSBI to lead the investigation.

“All three are adults, two females and one male,” said Hunter McKee, OSBI spokesperson.

Crime scene investigators were seen going into the home and the house next door for hours on Saturday.

On Monday morning, yellow tape was removed from outside the house and people were seen loading items into a truck.

Neighbors said the family living there was well liked in the community.

“They’re really nice people,” said Jacklyn Gilmore. “The husband was nice. The wife used to work at the grocery store. She was just really personable.”

Gilmore said the town was bustling over the weekend with a citywide garage sale.

“I went to a few garage sales and came back about 1p.m.,1:30, and I couldn’t get through because they had the caution tape and everything blocked off,” said Gilmore.

Investigators are still searching for Jacob Mayhugh, 22, who is a person of interest in the case. Neighbors confirmed Mayhugh was related to the victims.

He was last seen driving an older model tan GMC Yukon. Police have not located him yet and have asked for tips on his whereabouts.

“We were on the lookout for sure,” said Gilmore. “Everyone’s talking about what his car looks like and, you know, he’s pretty distinctive with his long hair.”

OSBI said they are working to determine a motive.

“We’re still looking into that right now, using all the resources we have, talking to witnesses, people out here in this area and doing what we can to find out why this happened,” said McKee.

McKee also said Mayhugh is considered a “person of interest” at this point and OSBI has not said yet if he was considered a suspect.

“We’re just leaving it at that,” said McKee. “It is a person of interest. No other victims at this time.”
