Neighbor calls 911, Dothan house catches fire

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A Dothan home was saved Friday night after neighbors took action and called 911 when they saw smoke.

At around 6:50 p.m., emergency units rushed to the 200 block of Royal Orleans Court after receiving reports of smoke coming from the roof of a home.

When firefighters arrived, they found the house was on fire, but were able to extinguish the flames quickly. Units were on the scene for several hours to prevent hot spots from flaring up.

Authorities tell WDHN the fire started in the laundry room of the house, but a cause is currently unknown. The house suffered extensive smoke damage.

The residents were not home at the time of the fire and no one was injured.
