Nearly 7,000 stolen gift cards recovered, 2 arrested in Georgetown County

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Georgetown County deputies recovered nearly 7,000 gift cards worth nearly $14,000 and arrested two men after a traffic stop on Wednesday.

Sheriff Carter Weaver said Longwen Li, 32, of Monterey Park, Calif., and Fuging Lin, 36, who address wasn’t listed, were arrested on South Fraser Street in a 2018 Lexis that had been reported stolen. Deputies found nine cloth bags containing 6,900 cards that had been stolen from Walmart stores in other states in the car.

The men were wanted by Florida authorities for questioning about the gift cards, Weaver said. The cards were of various denominations totaling $13,800. They were Apple, Google Play, Steam, Xbox, and Razer Gold cards.

Deputies also seized a bag of small tools, razor blades, glue and a laptop computer. The men are being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center on charges of receiving stolen goods.
