Near record warmth today; wetter and cooler Friday

Near record warmth today! We’ll have plenty of sunshine with high temperatures in the mid 80s. The record stands at 87° for this date, set back in 1959. A few spotty showers are possible, mainly in the evening hours.

Pacers are back at home for Game 6 tonight! Tip-off is at 6:30 PM. We’ll be warm as fans head to the game downtown, in the mid 80s. Heading home from what is hopefully a Pacers win, temperatures will still be very mild, in the upper 70s.

An area of low pressure along a cold front is position to our west Thursday morning. Rain fall is scattered across much of Iowa into northern Missouri. This is the system we are watching to bring us rain Friday. Clouds will increase late this afternoon and evening. A few isolated showers or storms are possible but most stay dry until the overnight hours. Rainfall coverage will increase into early Friday morning. Expect wet conditions in the area for the morning commute. Scattered showers and storms continue through the afternoon. During the afternoon and evening hours, the greatest concentration of rain will be positioned in our eastern and southern counties. However, widely scattered showers lingering back to the west remain possible.

The Indy Mini-Marathon is Saturday. It’s looking pretty nice! A few patchy light rain showers can’t be ruled out but the area is looking to be primarily dry. Temperatures will be rising through the 60s during the race. Temperatures Friday into early next week do cool out of the 80s but will still be above average, in the 70s. We get back to 80° warmth mid next week.
