Near record heat Wednesday; strong winds Thursday — Your 9-Day Forecast

We were very close to the record high today at 92! The record for this day is 93 set in 1965.

My son Mason had Lasik corrective eye surgery today. Thank God it was a success. Dr. De La Torre performed it at the exact same eye center where I had my surgery in 1999. Yes, that’s me with Dr. Schuster 25 years ago! (Yes, my distance vision is still perfect, though I do need reading glasses now.) Part of the reason I got the surgery was dusty days because nothing is worse than wearing contacts and having sand blow in them. Your dusty forecast is below…

TONIGHT:  The skies will be clear, and the moderately gusty winds will slowly die down through the night.  The SW winds will gust to near 35 mph (no dust).  The low will drop to 62.

FORECAST: Wednesday will be partly cloudy with a high of 90.  Once again, we will be windy with no dust.  The SW winds will gust to near 30 mph with the strongest gusts on the eastern slopes.  Thursday will bring strong winds and a dusty haze by the afternoon.  A powerful, dry low-pressure system moves over the Borderland causing SW-west winds to gust to near 50 mph on the eastern slopes.  Thursday’s high: 89.  Friday will be sunny and windy (no dust).  The high will drop to 82, and the west-NW winds will gust to near 35 mph.  Saturday will bring powerful winds and a dusty haze.  The west winds will gust to near 55 mph with the strongest gusts on the eastern slopes.  Saturday’s high: 83.  Sunday will be sunny with lighter, cooler winds and a high of 78.
