Near record heat for Memorial Day in Central Florida

The heat keeps building for Memorial Day in Central Florida with highs in the upper 90s and feels-like temperatures into the 100s.

The National Weather Service said the region is approaching record highs for Monday as rain chances are off the board for most of the area on Monday.

The heat index values will range from 98 to 107 degrees Fahrenheit.

“A Moderate to Major Heat Risk is expected,” the NWS in Melbourne posted. “Heat at this level can affect anyone without adequate cooling or hydration. Impacts are possible to health systems where there are moderate values and likely where there are major values.”

Overnight lows are expected to be in the low- to mid-70s.

Some moisture is expected to creep toward the Florida peninsula staring Tuesday with rain chances beginning to increase during the week.
