North Dakota getting $102,000 in multistate settlement of Wi-Fi privacy case with Google

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- North Dakota is getting about $102,000 in a multistate settlement with Google Inc.

Google Is paying a $7 million fine to settle an investigation into a snoopy software program. It enabled the Internet search leader to intercept emails, passwords and other sensitive information sent several years ago over unprotected wireless networks in neighborhoods across the world.

Google blamed the intrusion on a rogue engineer. The company does not admit any wrongdoing.

The agreement covers 38 states and the District of Columbia.
