NC one step closer to adding suicide prevention signs in more parking garages

On Tuesday, Rep. Carla Cunningham added a $500,000 grant program to a mental health bill that passed out of the health committee.

It’s inspired by suicide survivor and mental health advocate Fonda Bryant.

Bryant found herself contemplating taking her own life nearly 30 years ago, but a loved one stopped her. Since then, she has dedicated her life to saving other lives.

If the bill passes, owners of parking decks can apply for funding to put up the signs.

The bill is now in the appropriations committee.
