NC DMV self-serve kiosk pops up at Charlotte grocery store

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Charlotte is one of the launch cities for North Carolina DMV’s new self-serve kiosks inside grocery stores.

The terminals came online Wednesday, March 13, and they allow people to renew licenses, state IDs, and other DMV tasks while they’re running errands.

DMV officials say you can only renew a driver’s license or ID at a kiosk if your last renewal was done in person. Eventually, people will also be able to renew their tags and property taxes at a kiosk and you can do it anytime while the store is open.

The only kiosk in Charlotte right now is at the Harris Teeter on Mount Holly-Huntersville Road at Brookshire Boulevard.

The DMV said the goal is to have 20 locations set up across the state by the end of this year.
