NC Amber Alert canceled after 8-day-old Chapel Hill boy found safe in Durham

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) — North Carolina authorities said a missing baby — just days old — was found safe two hours after an Amber Alert was issued Monday evening.

Jaxton Brown was missing from Chapel Hill and was believed to be with his parents, according to the alert sent just before 6:45 p.m.

“Investigators believe Brown is in danger,” Chapel Hill police said in a news release.

Jaxton was believed to be with Destinee Ariel Cothran, 26, of Garner and Justin Lee Brown, 26, of Durham, according to the Chapel Hill Police Department.

Jaxton was found safe in Durham, police said at 8:45 p.m. No other details were released.

Before that, he was last seen on Friday — when he was just five days old — at the Red Roof Inn at 5623 Fordham Blvd./Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd., police said.

Earlier, officials said the trio might be traveling in a white 1997 Mercury Mystique with two possible tags, 031724 and 29279542, which are both temporary paper tags.
