NBC Unveils Midseason Schedule: Chicago Justice, Blacklist Spinoff, Shades of Blue on the Move and More

NBC has pulled the curtain back on its 2017 midseason schedule and the Peacock net is handing off This Is Us‘ cushy post-Voice Tuesday timeslot to a pair of new comedies, while relocating Shades of Blue to Sunday night. The Blacklist spinoff, meanwhile, will take over the mothership’s Thursday-at-10/9c perch for two months.

Keep reading for a breakdown of the key tweaks:

TUESDAY | After This Is Us wraps its breakout rookie season in late February, back-to-back episodes of freshman half-hour comedy Trial & Error (starring John Lithgow) will fill the 9/8c void. (The show will debut with a single episode on March 7 at 9:30/8:30c after a 90-minute episode of The Voice, before going into double-pump mode starting March 14.) And then starting April 25, back-to-back episodes of Great News (from 30 Rock duo Tiny Fey and Robert Carlock) will take over the slot. (This Is Us returns Jan. 10, FYI.)

THURSDAY | DC Comics’ Danny Pudi-Vanessa Hudgens comedy Powerless will assume The Good Place‘s post-Superstore timeslot at 8:30/7:30c beginning Feb. 2. The Blacklist: Redemption, meanwhile, will launch on Feb. 23 in The Blacklist: Original Flavor‘s 10/9c timeslot, and remain there for eight weeks. The Blacklist returns with original episodes on April 20.

SUNDAY | Little Big Shots will kick off Season 2 on March 5 at 8/7c, where it will be followed by the premiere of Dick Wolf’s latest Windy City offshoot Chicago Justice (9/8c) and Season 2 of Shades of Blue (10/9c).

Midseason entries with no home yet: Marlon and Midnight, Texas.
