April 8 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Tuesday's National Basketball Association games. - - - Pistons 102, Hawks 95 Detroit guard Rodney Stuckey scored 29 points and Andre Drummond dominated inside with 19 points and 17 rebounds, lifting the Pistons to a win over the Hawks. Atlanta (34-43) now lead the idle New York Knicks by 1.5 games for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Detroit (29-49) were eliminated from the playoffs race at the weekend. The Hawks were coming off perhaps their most impressive performance in months, a blowout win at Indiana on Sunday, but missed a chance to make up ground in the playoff race. - - - Nets 88, Heat 87 New Jersey's rookie center Mason Plumlee blocked LeBron James' dunk attempt with two seconds left as the Nets beat the Miami Heat for the fourth time to sweep the season series. James had 29 points, 10 rebounds and six assists to lead the Heat (53-24), who still lead the Indiana Pacers by a half-game in the battle for the top seed in the Eastern Conference. Joe Johnson had 19 points for the Nets (43-34), who are in fifth place in the Eastern Conference and became the first team to beat the Heat four times in the regular season since 2007-08. - - - Timberwolves 110, Spurs 91 Four months after they were scheduled to play each other in Mexico City but never did, the Minnesota Timberwolves blew out the San Antonio Spurs in a makeup game. The Timberwolves did so on a night when they received a 23-point, seven-assist performance from point guard Ricky Rubio and forward Kevin Love's 19-point, 12-rebound double-double that allowed them to lead the Spurs by as many as 28 points in the third quarter. The NBA-best Spurs (60-18) played without Tony Parker, out with back spasms. - - - Mavericks 95, Jazz 83 Dirk Nowitzki scored 21 points and moved into the No. 10 spot on the NBA's all-time scoring list in the Dallas Mavericks' victory over the Utah Jazz. Nowitzki needed 18 points to replace Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson (26,710) in the 10th position of the NBA's scoring list. The win pushed Dallas (48-31) to within one game of idle Golden State (48-29) for the sixth spot in the Western Conference playoff standings. (Editing by Peter Rutherford)
