Natural gas leak blocks US 31 traffic

Aug. 31—TRAVERSE CITY — A natural gas leak on US 31 North between Three Mile and Four Mile roads is causing a longer commute home for many.

Grand Traverse Metro Emergency Authority first reported the leak in East Bay Township at 4:30 p.m. via social media where the road had been completely blocked off.

A photo from the scene posted online showed where a portion of the road appeared to be heaving up. The cause of the leak and exact location has not yet been reported.

No further updates have been issued.
