Nats Game Today: Washington Nationals home opener, what to know

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — One of the biggest days of the baseball season is a team’s home opener, and for the Washington Nationals, that day is today (April 1).

The Nats welcome the Pittsburgh Pirates to Navy Yard for a late afternoon game. Start time is scheduled to be 4:05 p.m.

All parking garages operated by the Nationals open at 1 p.m. The gates of Nats Park open at 2 p.m.

Nats Park bag policy: dos and don’ts

The team promised “tradition and pageantry” to go with Opening Day. There are a number of pregame festivities planned. They include an appearance by the Budweiser Clydesdales, red carpet player introductions, the unfurling of a giant American flag, live music from 19th Street Band, music from DJ Stylus Chris, caricature artists, face painters, balloon twisters, and photo ops.

Fans excited to have Nationals at home

The Nats said 20,000 fans will receive an Opening Day Reversible Bucket Hat presented by PenFed.

The team provides a transportation guide to help fans get to Nationals Park. The guide covers Metro, Metrobus and DC Circulator, driving and parking, taxi and ride-hailing services, and bicycles and motorcycles.
