NATO has plenty of air defense systems to share with Ukraine — Stoltenberg

NATO allies have “ample” air defense systems available to support Ukraine against Russian attacks, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said during a press conference on April 17.
While unable to disclose specific quantities due to the sensitive nature of the information, Stoltenberg admitted there are fewer than 100 modern anti-air batteries in Europe.
Stoltenberg explicitly highlighted NATO's substantial inventory of Patriot SAM systems, largely used by the United States to fulfill its global defense commitments.
“The reality is we have ample systems available that could greatly boost Ukraine's air defenses, particularly with additional Patriot battery deployments,” said the official.
“We are actively working on this.”

Stoltenberg had earlier announced that a Ukraine-NATO Council meeting was scheduled for April 19, focusing primarily on helping Kyiv defend against the escalating Russian air strike campaign.
On April 16, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said that Kyiv would convene a session of the Ukraine-NATO Council to address Ukraine's urgent air defense needs.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell previously said that if EU member states cannot provide air defense systems from their inventories, they should consider purchasing them to assist Ukraine.
