Nationwide Recalls on Ground Beef, Avocado Oil & More to Be Aware of Right Now
If you have any of these recalled products, return them for a refund immediately.

It can never hurt to check out the latest recall announcements, no matter which stores you frequent most. Whether it’s an alert issued by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), manufacturer or your favorite grocers and retailers, these notices have important information that can help consumers protect themselves against potential illness or injury. That’s why we’ve rounded up some of April and May’s latest recalls all in one spot. From ground beef and dairy products to nuts and cooking oils, these are the items you should check for in your kitchen ASAP.
Ground Beef
There are two ongoing nationwide alerts related to ground beef products. Both have been issued due to potential E. coli O157:H7 contamination.
The first announcement is a public health alert regarding ground beef products like patties and chubs sold by Greater Omaha Packing Co., Inc. While the products are off the market, they might still be in your freezer. Look for packages with a “Use/Freeze By” date of April 22, 2024 and USDA inspection stamp of EST.960A.
The second recall alerts us to 16,000 pounds of ground beef sold at Walmart locations across the country. If you have any plastic-wrapped trays of ground beef in your fridge or freezer, you’ll want to check them immediately. Look for establishment number “EST.86P” on the back label and the USDA’s mark of inspection on the front. There haven’t been any reports of illness related to these announcements so far. However, E. coli O157:H7 can cause severe illness to infected individuals. Ground beef products affected by both recalls should be returned to the place of purchase for a refund as soon as possible. Otherwise, be sure to discard them immediately.

Gibson Farms Organic Walnuts
According to the FDA, there’s been a recent recall on Gibson Farms Organic Light Halves and Pieces shelled walnuts. This is due to an E. coli O157:H7 contamination connected to 12 reports of illness, including hospitalization.
The affected walnuts were distributed and sold at local and regional grocery chains in the following states: Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. The FDA is still investigating the source of the outbreak.

Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil
Primal Kitchen just voluntarily recalled over 2,000 cases of avocado oil, due to glass that may be prone to breakage.
The affected avocado oil comes in 750-milliliter glass bottles, which were sold online nationwide, in stores in the eastern United States and in California. Six-count cases of the product show a UPC of 108552320071910000, and individual bottles show a UPC of 8-55232-00719-4. All products will also display “Best When Used By” dates between 19 AUG 2025 and 21 AUG 2025.
No injuries have been announced in connection to this recall. If you have the recalled product, Primal Kitchen asks that you dispose of it immediately and contact their customer service line at 1-888-774-6259 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.

Hy-Vee Cream Cheese
Due to possible Salmonella contamination, the FDA recently issued a recall on Hy-Vee brand cream cheese and snack mixes.
This recall includes some store-branded whipped cream cheese spreads, plain cream cheese spreads and cookies and cream-flavored snack mixes. The products were sold at Hy-Vee, Hy-Vee Drugstore and Dollar Fresh Market locations in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin. No illnesses have been reported with this recall, but Salmonella can cause serious health complications for those infected. Hy-Vee is suggesting that customers return any recalled products to their place of purchase for a full refund.

Planters Peanuts
Due to potential contamination by Listeria monocytogenes, an FDA recall is ongoing for two Planters peanut products:
4-ounce packages of Planters Honey Roasted Peanuts with UPC 2900002097 and best by date “04 11 25”
8.75-ounce cans of Planters Deluxe Lightly Salted Mixed Nuts with UPC 2900001621 and best by date “05APR26”
The recalled products were shipped and sold in Publix locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina, as well as Dollar Tree stores in Georgia and South Carolina.
If you have one of the affected packages or cans, return it to your place of purchase for an exchange or refund or dispose of it immediately.
