Nationally recognized star student chooses HPU

May 3—HIGH POINT — Madison Crowell, a senior at Liberty County High School in Hinesville, Georgia, announced during a ceremony on May 1 that she has decided to attend High Point University after being accepted into 231 colleges and universities across the country.

Crowell's college application process garnered national attention after she broke records for the number of schools that she got accepted into and for receiving nearly $15 million in scholarships. In total, she has been awarded $14,790,695 in academic merit scholarships, including a full tuition scholarship to HPU.

"Choosing to attend High Point for the next four years is something that I believe to be one of the best decisions of my life," Crowell said. "The atmosphere that HPU had when I stepped on campus for the first time was unmatched. I felt that I was at home and could spend the next four years of my life happily getting an amazing education. I cannot wait to see what HPU has in store for me and the rest of my journey."

Crowell plans to major in exercise sciences at HPU and eventually earn a doctorate in physical therapy.

She will also join HPU's Bonner Leaders program, which connects students with local nonprofit organizations and social innovation projects around the city of High Point. Bonner Leaders serve the community and gain mentorship, a network of community support and real-world job experience.

"We are excited to welcome Madison to our HPU family," said HPU President Nido Qubein. "She is going to do exceptional things right here at The Premier Life Skills University, where we call everybody to be extraordinary. The sky is not the limit for her, and when she comes to High Point University, we know she'll be a leader. We know she'll make amazing things happen. We're here to resource her, cheer her on and celebrate her victory."

Crowell was joined by her parents, classmates, and local and state government officials as she announced her college choice during a ceremony at her high school. A statement from President Joe Biden congratulating Crowell and telling her that she was one of the reasons he was "so optimistic about the future" was shared during the ceremony.

Crowell was active in extracurricular activities at Liberty County High School, serving as vice president of the class of 2024, a varsity cheerleader, a student ambassador, the school's lead basketball manager, a member of the National Honors Society and managing editor of the school's yearbook.
