National Railroad Museum hosts groundbreaking for Fox River Expansion

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The National Railroad Museum broke ground on Thursday for its Fox River Expansion.

The new main exhibit gallery will allow families to explore four tracks of rolling stock and small exhibits. A mezzanine will overlook the lower level and will have views of the Fox River and the exhibit below, as well as give space to explore some of the 150,000 artifacts.

“People who are traveling the Great Lakes through the cruise ship industry, they had to pick a couple of places of ours; they’re going to Lambeau Field, but they picked the National Railroad Museum as one of those locations,” said Troy Streckenbach, Brown County Executive. “That’s a testament as to what trains mean to people, not only here but internationally.

The new expansion should be completed by July 2025.
