National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week
PRINCETON, WV (WVNS) – Every year during the month of April, a week is set aside to observe as a time to honor those that serve the public.
April 14th through 20th is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
Founded in 1981, this week is to recognize those who serve by being the first line of response
The Mercer County 911 Center is celebrating this special week.
Concord University to hold Second Annual Alumni and Friends Band Concert
Julie Lockhart, Training Officer for the Mercer County 911 Center, said although telecommunicators may not be seen, their work shouldn’t go unnoticed.
“Because we are not seen, you only hear our voices. When people are thanked, they always thank the officer that maybe came on scene or the firemen, or the paramedic. They don’t think about the 911 dispatcher who is actually the first of the first responders,” said Lockhart to 59News.
The Mercer County 911 Center is theming their celebration based off the CBS show “CSI”
Lockhart also said this week is about being thankful.
