National guardsman repeatedly raped child until someone caught him, Ohio officials say

An Ohio national guardsman is accused of raping a child multiple times until someone caught him and took the child to the police station, according to Ohio officials.

Steven Vicario was charged with three counts of rape, one count of gross sexual imposition and tampering with evidence between October 2022 and November 2023, according to court documents. He pleaded not guilty in court April 24, according to WBNS.

Delaware police said Vicario was found in a bedroom with a 14-year-old girl while he was partially undressed, WCMH reported. The girl was taken to the police station and then to the hospital, WCMH reported.

Vicario is a lieutenant colonel and works full-time as a mobilization officer at the Joint Force headquarters, a spokesperson told WSYX. He was put on leave without pay, WSYX reported.
