Hayden Panettiere's country music series Nashville may be bowing out after its upcoming sixth season, but it's pulling out all the stops to make sure it ends in truly spectacular fashion.

In the series' latest first-look at season six, fans are treated to a quick snapshot of what we can expect from its final run, all set to the sounds of Nashville.

From new love interests for Will (Chris Carmack) and Maddie (Lennon Stella) as well as a potential romance budding for Jessie (Kaitlin Doubleday) and Deacon (Charles Esten), the clip may be short but it certainly has enough to get Nashies excited for the new season.

And that's before we even get to that blink-and-you'll-miss-it scene of someone (most likely a male someone) doing what looks like steroids in a bathroom as they inject themselves with something, while Gunnar (Sam Palladio) and Will look like they're about to come to blows.

Details of exactly what will happen in season six are still being kept under wraps for now, but at least it looks like we can expect it to pack in a lot in its reduced 16-episode run.

Nashville was resurrected by CMT after it was cancelled by ABC back in 2016 but earlier this month CMT confirmed the series was being cancelled once again.

"All of us on Nashville are so incredibly grateful to the show's fans, who convinced CMT to give us a chance to keep telling the story of these remarkable characters," said executive producer Marshall Herskovitz.

"We want to return the favour with a final season that celebrates all the joys and passions, twists and turns – and amazing music! – that made Nashville such an exciting journey for the last six years."

Nashville returns to CMT in the US on January 4, 2018. Sky Living airs the show in the UK.
